I'm not sure what the diabeetus has to do with anything, but birds can live a long time. Longer than your dad, most likely. But since you're asking for a cheap or free bird (PLAY SOME SKYNYRD, MAN), I'm thinking you already ran the numbers.
Birds are nippy, and diabetics are slow to heal. FAIL.
